摘要
在当代泰国,旅游业逐渐成为经济发展的重要支柱。为了吸引游客刺激经济的发展,公开的或隐蔽的性交易迅速泛滥开来,卖淫被看作是一种可接受的职业。泰国的性旅游业多年来持续不衰,从而为泰国带来了巨大的经济效益,创造了大量的外汇收入,但很多外国游客到泰国是为了寻花问柳,随之带来了致命的艾滋病。艾滋病的蔓延给泰国的社会环境造成了不同程度的污染,对经济发展与社会繁荣构成了严重威胁。
Tourism has become one of the bases of economic growth in contemporary Thailand. The growth of sex tourism has been supplemented by significantly increased consumption of commercial sex services by local men. Thousands of Thai women work as prostitutes, and sex trade became an important international business. Western sex tourists are credited with making the Thai sex industry more public, diverse and raunchy. Since the first case of HIV highly publicized in Thailand, HIV has spread along with prostitution practice in the country and the development is with a rather rapid speed. Today HIV remains the most critical threat to economic progress and social development.
