The large angular separations and the rare appearance of the third images have been puzzles for seven gravitationally lensed quasars (GLQs) found, so far [1], In this paper, the relation between GLQs and their angular separations is statistically calculated using King galaxies as deflectors and all QSOs in A New Optical Catalog of QSOs [14] as sources. A great number of numerical calculations show that(a) The model can produce the same distribution of GLQs with their separations as the observed curveA large angular separation would occur due to the core of galaxy.(b) The third image is much fainter than the primary one. For △mac.<2, only two images appear. It is consistent with the observation.(c) In order to fit the distribution (1), galaxies must satisfy the following requirements:where Mu is the upper mass limit, M/L the mass-to-light ratio, R the radius, and a the core radius. It has been shown that not only the observations of GLQs can be explained perfectly in the model, but the gravitational lens effect can also be used as a tool to detect the structures of galaxies.
