Hauaian Rock Salt Deposit is located in the Mesozoic Huaian Basin which is NEE striking and uplifted in Tertiary period. The geophysical and drilling exploration indicate that the central subsidence is more than 3, 000 m.The Xiaguan block is located in the center of the basin. The strata in the block are Quaternary Dongtai formation, Yancheng Group of Upper series of Tertiary system, Chishan and Pukou formations of Upper series of Cretaceous system. The sedimentary rock is NEE striking, dipping south, with the dipping angle less than 5 degree in the center.There is not much faults and fractures. The only fracture is less than 2 mm wide and filled with gypsum, calcite etc. The rock salt are mainly thin-bedded and crumb(breccia), less massive-thick-bedded structure. NaCl content is about 18% in wall rock and 50% in the rock salt layer.The advanced solution mining is used in the deposit now. In Aug. 1992, the connection between wells was created by compressing brine in An. 1 well. 30 minutes later, the fractures connecting 4 wells were made up. The paper concludes that using brine as compressing liquid has high advantages.
