摘要
无论是在理论语言学还是应用语言学中,"能力"都是个核心概念,因而关于能力的定义与理解随着研究目标和学术观点的不同具有较大的差异.本文在论述中西方关于"能力"的差异的基础上,重点评价了它们在课程设置方面的理论指导意义.在此问题上,乔姆斯基的"能力"说没有多大实际意义.其他各家之说的共核部分--应用能力--可以作为目前外语类课程设置的理论指导思想.由于能力是个动态的开放系统,课程设置必须具有开放性、动态性、自主性和.灵活性.
Competence is a key concept either in theoretical or applied linguistics, which has given rise to different elaborations due to research objectives and academic views. The paper, based on critical comments on the different notions of competence, elaborates their theoretical significance in curriculum design for foreign language teaching, and points out that while Chomsky's notion of competence has little value in the design, the commonalities(ability) between other notions can serve as the theoretical ground for it. Since competence (more accurately ability) is an open and dynamic system, curriculum design must be also open,dynamic,autonomous and reflexible.
