摘要
某些翻译理论文章甚至例句词典，因所引“例证”自身存在着缺陷，以致产生“悖论”现象。文中所析译例，在表意方面基本堪称达旨通顺，但从风格翻译层面上看，它们却都不尽人意。这说明，译事之难，译者当以自儆；而欲将那些包含有缺陷瑕疵的译例视作佳句撷英，进而作为某种理论的“例证”或是双语比照研究的典范，那就不由得人们不对它们进行质疑、推敲、再推敲乃至“苛求”了。文中强调翻译以“信”为本，不但“义旨”要信，“风格”更要信。
This paper probes into the 'paradoxical exemplifications＂ in some translation papers and even dictionary exhibiting translating examples. As is revealed, meaning-transference constitutes no problem in almost all the 'examples＂ quoted; the defects , however, lie in the inadequacy of rendering original style into the target language. To take the challenge, the author believes that 'faithfulness＂ to both of the original meaning and the style should be the only-principle for translators to keep in mind.
