Methods: The subjects consisted of 36 Hp positive patients (24 males; mean age, 51 yrs; age range, 34 - 70 yrs) with histologically confirmed atrophic gastritis (21 with antral and 15 with antral and corpus). They were followed for 12 to 48 months (mean 20 months) after Hp eradication. Biopsy were taken according to the specification of biopsy sites (Yokohama Recommendation 1996, proposed by Kimura K and Sipponen P as Routine Gastric Endoscopic Biopsy); e.g. from mid antrum, incisura angularis and mid corpus on the lesser curvature,
