称谓通常是交际的开始,恰当地选择和使用称谓对顺利进行跨文化交际起着重要作用,英汉称谓系统存在着差异,这些差异主要有:亲属称谓泛化差异;"老"化称谓差异;敬称谦称使用差异。
The proper selection and use of forms of address is of great importance to smooth intercultural communication.There are a number of differences between the forms of address in English & in Chinese.This paper analyses the major differences,and uncovers the cultural differences underlying the differences of forms of address.These differences include the differences of addresses among relatives;differences of addresses of the term 'old'and its relevant implications and so on.
