摘要
理工科大学在发挥理工类学科强势作用的同时 ,也要创建具有鲜明特色和一定水准的人文社会科学学科 ,这是我国一流理工科大学向世界一流理工大学目标迈进的必然选择。我们认为 ,创建世界一流理工大学 ,既离不开科学精神的弘扬 ,也离不开人文精神的滋养 ,应及早认识到人文社会科学学科在创建世界一流理工科大学中的重要作用。只要定位准确 ,措施有效 ,特色突出 ,在新世纪初叶建成一批一流理工科大学中的具有先进水平的人文社会科学学科的目标就会实现。
It is inevitable for a first rate Chinese university of science and engineering to found the corresponding top social sciences if it determines to reach the goal of being an international first rate university. For the foundation of an international first-rate university requires both spirit of natural science and of social science. So it is essential for university administrators to realize the importance of social sciences in such a university. With a definite orientation and some effective measures, the first decade of the new century will certainly witness the foundation of a group of international first rate universities of science and engineering in China.
