摘要
民国著名外交家顾维钧在晚年撰写的回忆录中,较为详细地叙述了民国初年他在袁世凯身边任职的经历,其中不仅描写了他对袁世凯的总体印象,还揭示了袁氏对民主共和的认知水平和他对袁世凯办理外交事务的观察。重读顾氏的评说,也许能使我们对前人多一份了解,对中国早期步履蹒跚的民主化进程多一层深刻的认识。
Gu Wei-jun, famous diplomat after Xinhai Revolution, relates his working experience with Yuan Shi-kai in his reminiscence written in his later years. In this book, Gu describes his general impression on Yuan and reveals Yuans cognitive level on democratic republic as well as his own perspective on Yuans diplomacy. Re-reading Gus review, we may have a pitiful understanding of that time and a deeper knowledge of the difficult course of the democratization of early China.
