摘要
中国早期的英语教学呈现出以下主要特点:19世纪初叶传教士来华传教使中国人开始接受英语教育;教会学校在华的竞相设立使英语教学开始起步;清末民初新式学堂的兴起使得英语教学渐渐步入正轨,并初具规模;赴美留学归国人员大批从事教育活动为英语教学的中国化起到了很大的作用。
The Engliish teaching of China in the early years of the 19th century has the following characteristics:a few Chinese students began to accept English education in the Anglo-Chinese College and Morrison School and the setting up of some mission schools symbolized the beginning of China's English teachng.After nearly 100 years,the springing up of new-type schools at the end of Qing dynasty made the step of China's English teaching enter the right path.On the other hand,sending students to study in America also contributed to the development of China's English teaching.
