Maxine Hong Kingston, a Chinese American writer, has been embraced with the fame and recognition for her works. She becomes one of the first Asian American writers in the United States to achieve great acclaim for both her nonfiction and fiction. One of the important and undeniable facts for her success is her dual ethnic identity and bicultural background, which have also given her both delight and dilemma. To get rid of her trouble, she has made full use of her Chinese and American sources and reconstructed the myths in her book The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts her only hope: peaceful co-existing and healthy growing of both eastern and western culture.
