Through the character Liu Liang-chen, an obsolete but fascinating village comes into view, in which Liu displays his living conditions, labour and happiness, but also confusion and solitariness for a person with deep insight. Watching and wandering in the wheat land have turned the Yellow Sand Ridge into a home symbol, the place a soul traveler longs for.
