摘要
敦煌变文叙事体制最基本的构成形式,是在散文形式的叙事进程中加入韵文,散文主要用于叙事,韵文用于渲染或概括,深化散文内容;散文部分和韵文部分不断交替出现,形成韵散相间的整体格局。变文的韵文引导方式有三种基本类型:一是直接以"偈语"、"诗偈"、"诗曰"等方式引导;二是以纯粹的"当尔之时,道何言语"及其省略方式"道"、"云云"等词引导;三是只简单用到"道"、"曰"、"云"这样一些词语,甚至干脆没有任何引导词或引导句。这三类引导方式,展示了引导词从繁复到简洁的流变过程,无论哪一种引导方式,最后都能追溯到汉译佛典的叙事体制。变文的叙事体制是汉译佛典叙事体制的传承、沿袭和衍变,应是一个比较可靠的结论。
The basic form of narration in the system of Dunhuang Bianwen compositions is to insert verses to the narrative process of prose writing. The prose and verse forms appear alternatively with the former as narration and the latter as exaggeration or summary to heighten what was expressed in the prose part. There are three basic patterns to introduce verses into Bianwen. The first one is the use of direct speech in the form of 'Jiyu','As the poem reads' or 'As the poem says'; the second is to use such expressions as 'What was said at that time was …' or the simplified form of 'said' or 'expressed'; and the third one simply takes the form of such words as 'speaking', 'saying' and 'expressing', or with none of such introducing words at all. The three patterns reveal a changing process from the complicated to the simple —— each can be traced back to the narrative pattern of the Chinese translation of Buddhist Scriptures. The reliable conclusion is that the narrative pattern of Bianwen is the inheritance, the follow-up and the development of the narrative pattern of the Chinese translation of the Buddhist Scriptures.
