标题"立片言而居要",起的是画龙点睛的作用。新闻类文章更需要以标题引发读者兴趣,使读者快速准确地理解题旨意义,因而新闻标题常借助修辞手段。本文以大量实例较全面地总结了英语新闻标题中常见的修辞手段,并深入分析了各种修辞手段所达到的表达效果。
A news headline is the 'soul' of an article which gives an immediate revelation of its essence.A good headline can not only attract readers' attention, trigger their desire to read but also help them grasp the main points. Therefore, stylistic devices are usually employed in news headlines to make them more expressive and striking. This paper focuses on some of the stylistic devices frequently used in English news headlines and analyses their effectiveness in information communication.
