摘要
给出了一种新颖的多分辨率三角形网格表示方法,其特点是多分辨率模型隐含在单分辨率模型里,因而其存储空间非常小,比国外文献报道的结果少10%;多分辨率模型从单分辨率模型中提取,因而其提取、显示时间非常短;多分辨率模型是按模型简化的顺序重新排列原模型的三角形表数据而构造的,因而其生成方法非常简单,且可被用来直接提取、显示各层次细节模型。
Traditional multiresolution mesh includes the single resolution mesh and single resolution mesh is extracted from the multiresolution mesh. In this paper, we introduce a novel multiresolution mesh representation, which is implicit in the single resolution mesh. And we propose a new multiresolution mesh storage scheme, which reduces the storage overhead by 10 percent than previously; our multiresolution mesh is stored according to the mesh resolution so any level of detail can be rendered directly. The multiresolution mesh is extracted from the single resolution mesh, thereby reducing the extraction time considerably. The multiresolution mesh can be obtained by rearranging the data of original triangle list, and therefore the construction approach is very simple. To our best knowledge, this is the simplest and most compact multiresolution mesh representation with the same storage requirement as that of a single multiresolution mesh.
