We have demonstrated a carbon nanotube based 6 inch diagonal QVGA cathode array showing video images, using a simple, low cost device structure. The nanotubes are grown in place by selective chemical vapor deposition, leading to a clean cathode with well controlled properties. The device structure requires only 3 low resolution mask steps, and provides a device switching voltage of 50 V. In addition, our device design provides for long display lifetimes. In smaller fully frit-sealed test displays, we have now logged over 3000 hours of lifetime with less than 20% current degradation.
