摘要 本文调查研究汉语和美国英语拒绝言语行为与社会因素的关系。调查的理论框架是Brown和Levinson的礼貌理论。本文语料收集采用了“语篇补全测试”的问卷调查法。被试者是中美非语言学专业的大学生。数据分析集中在中心言语行为 ,辅助言语行为和修饰语上。我们采用了根据言语对面子的正负影响来评估礼貌值的方法。由于中美的社会因素观不尽一致 ,我们增发了社会因素评估问卷 ,受试者仍是中美大学生。本研究结果基本上没有驳斥而是再次证实和扩充了Brown -Levinson理论。Brown和Levinson的权力、距离和难易程度以及本研究增加的情感因素影响中美拒绝言语行为 ,但影响的方式不完全相同。 This paper presents a survey of the relationship between social factors and refusals in Chinese and American English. The theoretical background is Brown and Levinson's (1987) politeness theory. The data were collected from the Discourse Completion Test in questionnaire form in China and USA. The subjects total 200, with 100 Chinese and 100 Americans, and comprise an equal number of male and female university students in their second and third years of study in subjects other than linguistics. In the data analysis, focus is on CSAs, ASAs and microunits. To rate politeness values, we produced a positive-or-negative-effect-rating method. As Chinese and Americans may perceive the social factors differently, we issued an additional questionnaire to obtain the native speakers' assessment of the four social factors. The results have not refuted but rather reconfirmed as well as extended Brown-Levinson framework.
