摘要 Systems engineering is not a new discipline. However, up to now, there is little consensus on its exact definition and scope. The scopes of several disciplines (neighboring disciplines of systems engineering) overlap with that of systems engineering. In this paper, the methods to identify similarities and dissimilarities between systems engineering and its neighboring disciplines are discussed. The research of this paper is expected to be helpful for clarifying the definition and scope of systems engineering. Systems engineering is not a new discipline.
