In this paper a comparative approach is adopted to make a brief overall analysis of the Chinese novels written by authors in Thailand, the Philippines and indonesia with an aim to bring out their similarities and differences. It has been found that Thai Chinese authors pay more attention to the depletion of a realistic world full of hardships for human life to suffer, Philippine Chinese authors seem to show more discretion in describing the reality by keeping a distance away purposefully, and Indonesian Chinese authors have to resort to plotting out love affairs and daily trifles for their Chinese novels because of the special national conditions therein. Correspondingly, there have been differences in artistic expression. Chinese novels created in Thailand show a predilection for the traditional form of story-telling, those created in the Philippines manage to acquire greater freedom and flexibility of artistic expression by way of the form of 'returning to one's inner world', and those created in Indonesia demonstrate an intent to deduce experience in life rich in personal emotions by means of narration other than story-telling.
