摘要
Macrobiology. an important area of biology, has close relations with industry, agriculture, science, education, foreign affairs and foreign trade. It offers a theoretical foundation for solving many problems confronting the human beings in fields such as human population, food, the environment, resources and medical care, and provides scientific basis for major decision-making by the State. In this paper, discussed are the role of macrobiology in science, the economy and social development, the trend of development of macrobiology in the 21st century, and the present situation of macrobiology at the CAS. Lastly, the development strategy and main countermeasures of this discipline are also proposed.
