AbstractSince ancient times,the way to Sichuan,being difficult and dangerous,always caused endless sighs with regret on the part of numerous travellers.In the article,the author describes his own experience in seeing and appreciating in a bus ride the scenery of today's way to Sichuan,particudarly in going through the four passes:Dasan,Wuxiu,Wuding and Jianmen.About these wellknown passes he presents a vivid description of their physical features,histories,and legendary stories.Also,he tells some anecdotes about the building,sinec this century began,of roads to Sichuan,as well as about situations in social life along these roads.In the face of great changes from ancient to modern times, the author expresses his deep and farreaching feelings.
