摘要
本文从社会心理学角度讨论“文化定型”的种种特征,并提出“跨文化交际悖论”这一概念,指出从事文化比较的学者和教师面临的矛盾:要促进理解和交流,就要概括文化差异,而文化差异的定型又可能妨碍人类各民族之间的沟通。文章就悖论的解决提出了看法和教学建议。
Researchers and educators in cross-cultural communication invariably face a dilemma: in order to enhance mutual understanding between different cultures, cultural differences have to be generalized. However, as any 'generalization' is actually an 'over-generalization', categorization of such differences can well be cultural stereotyping, Which hinders mutual understanding. Such a dilemma can be called 'the paradox of cross-cultural communication'. The present paper raises and discusses the issue by examining the theories and practice of cross-cultural communication studies. Suggestions are also made as to the way out.
