在中国古代历法中有一系列天文表,欲求与任一变量相应的天文量,可依相应的天文表用内插法加以计算。自曹士芳(约780年)创始,经边冈(892年)、宋行古(1024年)、周琮(1064年)。姚舜辅(1106年)等一批天文学家的相继努力,许多传统的天文表及其算法逐渐被公式化了,这些数学公式取二次、三次、四次或五次函数式的形式,它们既使计算简便,又使计算结果趋于精确。这种别具一格的算法,极大地充实了中国古代天文学代数学体系的内容。
In ancient Chinese calendars there is a series of astronomical tables. To find an astronomical quantity corresponding to any variable, the method of insertion can be used in reference to relevant astronomical tables.
Owing to the work initiated by Cao Shiwei (ca 780) and developed consecutively by Bian Gang (892), Song Xinggu (1024), Zhou Zong (1064), Yao Shunfu (1106) and other astronomers, the calculation of many traditional astronomical tables was gradually formulized. These mathematical formulas, in the form of functions of second, third fourth or fifth order, make the operation rather easy and the calculation results more precise.
This unique way of calculation, which has greatly enriched the intension of the mathematic system of ancient Chinese astronomy, was an important attempt in the mathematization and theorization of astronomy.
