摘要
本文论述以下四个问题:1)中国翻译的过去和现在;2)关于可译性和不可译性;3)翻译标准的争论;4)语言学是否有助于翻译问题的解决。翻译虽然很难说是一门科学,但在一定范围内或一定程度上,语言学可以加深对翻译问题的研究。
This article deals with four topics: (1) a look at translation in China, (2) the issue of translata-bility and untranslatability, (3) the criteria of translation, (4) where linguistics can help. The writeris skeptical of the claim that translation is a science, but he argues that applied within limits and withprudence, linguistics can be helpful to translators.
