摘要
书画鉴定的对象,一般是流传于世的卷轴书画,不包括作为考古发掘调查对象的石窟壁画、墓室壁画以及埋藏于地下的绢帛书画和其他书画。然而,近40年来,出土文物与考古方法却推动了传统书画鉴定的现代发展。这是一个值得重视的问题。
The methods adopted by most art authenticators include the examination of inscrip-tions,study of literal references and analysis based on textual criticism. These methods,fortheir common omission of art itself in terms of visual appreciation,evolution in expression-al techniques,etc., are criticized by the author of this essay as 'extra-painting methods.'The author believed that authentication as a branch of knowledge should give enough at-tention to the internal evidence,and he recommends the employment of unearthed relics inthe authentication of calligraphy and painting. Things like cave grotto,shrine, tomb cham-ber, silk painting and other tangible data, he says, should be studied in combination withthose scrolls handed over through generations.
