五四前后，社团众多。中共的第一代领导人在党成立之前，大多曾参与过进步社团的活动，毛泽东是其中的伎校者。青年时代社团活动的丰富经历为日后毛泽东成为马克思主义者奠定了坚实的基础。
During the May 4th Movement , there were a lot of mass organizations. Many leaders ofthe first generation of the Chinese Communist Party, before the Party was established, joined inthe progressive activities of the mass organizations. Mao Zedong was one of them. The essay at-tempts to trace Mao Zedong' s mass organization activities, explore the process of the great Chi-nese revolution and demonstrate that these activities laid a solid foundation for Mao Zedong to be-come a Marxist.
