The aim of Postgraduate English Teaching, according to the Syllabus for Non-English Major Postgraduates, can roughly be summarized as developing their communicative competence. However, the traditional approaches adopted by some teachers have their shortcomings in that they cannot help students produce stylistically acceptances. To solve this problem, we have tentatively proposed two communicative teaching models.In this thesis, we have first presented two communicative approaches the formal and informal ones. Next, the present situation of postgraduates is briefly mentioned. Following that, two communicative teaching models are proposed, which is the focus of the essay. In the end, a conclusion is given in which the points to which attention should be paid are listed.
