The Woman Warrior,an autobiographical novel by Chinese American Maxine Hone Kingston, was accomplished with great and controversial literal merit.Temporal and spatial sequences are fragmented.Traditional tales, ballads, and legends are adapted or reconstructed in her personal narrative as framing devices wherewith the present is alluded to critically. These adaptations and reconstructions reflect the author’s dilemma of being marginalized in the American culture and the cultural identity fighting course of the Chinese Americans against sexism and racism.
