'My Hatred Is Mountain,My Hatred Is Sea' is a classic aria by the protagonist Xi'er in opera The White-Haired Girl.She infects the audience by voicing loud her hatred and crying out her story in melodies that soar high in excitement and droop low in grief.Tempo changing and singing techniques from traditional Chinese opera are borrowed to add to the dramatic vividness of internal conflict.For a full representation and better interpretation of this piece of art,the singer should make a profound study of the background and the historic significance of the opera,its style,feelings of the protagonist,and the emotional art of the work.
