The definition,functions and principles of smart textiles were introduced briefly,the progress of the research on the development of the smart textiles from negative,positive and then to the advanced was outlined.A detailed review of the typical high-tech smart materials available on the market was presented accordingly.The future development of smart textiles was outlined briefly and the research on the smart textiles was put forward.
