摘要
文化空缺词汇是指由于生存环境、历史、宗教、民俗等原因而产生的具有某种文化意义,该意义只存在于一种语言而不存在于另一种语言之中,或具有相同概念意义而不同内涵意义词汇,或不同概念意义而相同内涵意义的词汇。帮助学生认识汉英文化空缺词汇,有助于消除他们认识上的误区,即汉语中的每个词汇在英语中都有对应词,反之依然,避免在翻译和交流时死抠字眼,使交流不能顺利进行。应通过音译、补充解释、功能描述等策略使交际取得应有的效果。
Culturally-loaded words refer to those words that exist in one language but not in another because of history,politics,economy,religion and so on,or those words that have the same conceptual meanings but differ-ent connotative meanings or those that have the same connotative meanings but conceptually different in another language.To let students be aware of culturally-loaded words is useful in helping them out of the wrong sense:Every Chinese word has an equivalent in English,or vise versa,thus avoiding word to word translation in communication.So the communicative strategies like transliterate,supplementary explanation and function description should be taken for due effect.
