摘要
语言交际是人类赖以维系社会和人际关系的重要手段,委婉语的使用避免了引起交际双方的不快从而损害双方的关系。本文从委婉语在英美国家的使用情形这一角度出发,着重探讨了委婉语的避讳功能,礼貌功能,掩饰功能和美学功能,具体分析了每一功能的内涵意义及其在交际中的具体表现,揭示了研究委婉语的社会意义。
Language communication is an important way to maintain the social relationship among human beings. The use of Euphemism avoids to cause the unpleasantness of the two communicative sides and damages their relationship. Base on the usage of Euphemism in western countries, the paper mainly explores the function of taboo, politeness, cover and aesthetics of Euphemism, analyses the implication of each function and the specific reflect in communication; furthermore, it reveals the social value of the study on Euphemism.
