摘要
我们不难发现同一条英语谚语往往会出现不同的汉语译本,而且这些译本都有存在的合理性。本文针对这一谚语翻译现象,运用隐喻理论、语境理论并结合功能翻译理论,以谚语的隐喻性特征为切入点,深入研究分析谚语的本体、喻体和喻底,并据此提出英语谚语翻译的三种方式,从而揭示了多译本出现的根源、它们之间的联系及其合理性。
It can be readily observed that there usually exist different Chinese versions of the same English proverb and those versions may be justified in particular circumstances.With regard to the phenomenon of proverb translation,the paper,on basis of the synthetic application of metaphor theories,context theories as well as the functionalist approaches to translation,proceeds from elucidating the metaphorization of English proverbs,then carries out a deep analysis of the proverb's tenor,vehicle and ground,and finally come up with three approaches for proverb translation, thus convincingly clarifying the root of those Chinese versions,their relationship and the justifiability of their existence.
