Hong Kong’s feminist literature is a contested field for the power of signs, where the battle of the signs between the elite feminist writers/activists and pop feminist wrtiers/activists is endlessly fought. The strategy to win the battle on the side of the marginalized pop feminist writers/activists is to increase their capital through film market so as to expand their cultural capital. The proper strategy reflects the power relation between the elite feminist writers/activists and pop feminist writers/activists. The essence of the relation is control by the elite, and protest by the popular. The nature of power relation is to be constructive. To apply this relation in the interpretation of the films adapted from Hong Kong’s feminist writing is possible and feasible.
