非马的诗观:"比现实更现实,比现代更现代"。"比现实更现实",即诗要植根于现实生活,但同时又要超越现实,升华现实。"比现代更现代",首先是他站在时代的前列,以现代的观念来观照和思考人生;第二是在审视现实生活和历史时饱含理性的批判意识;第三是对现代诗技巧的全面运用和创造发挥。
William Marr’s poetic view is 'to be more real than reality, to be more modern than modernity.' What he means by 'to be more real than the reality' is that poetry should grow out of but also transcend real life, and ultimately sublimate reality; while his 'to be more modern than modernity' means that: first, he takes the modern viewpoint to look upon life; second, he maintains his critical sense of reason to examine real life and history; third, he fully adopts and develops the poetic techniques of modern poetry.
