摘要
《红楼梦》食物名称语言精练,结构富有特征,文化信息丰富,这给译者的翻译带来了困难。本文分析研究了《红楼梦》杨宪益和Hawkes两个版本中食物名称翻译中的错误,考证了这些食物名称的中英文含义,探讨翻译错误的类别和错误原因。分析结果表明语言错误主要体现在原文具体名词的理解错误、原文结构的理解错误、译文表达的错误、修辞手段的误译,文化错误主要体现在文化信息的误译。纵观这些翻译,可以看出出现这些错误的主要原因在于翻译者对原文理解错误和翻译过于简单化以及目的语文化内涵与原语相差甚远等。
The food names translated in the book Hong Loumeng are characterized by brief language, special structures and abundant cultural information, which challenge the translator’s work.
