摘要
文章首先简单回顾索氏任意性概念,接着从语言起源、拟声词、感叹词和象形词、语词的形态、语词的词源特征等方面探讨语言符号的任意性,并得出任意性是语言符号的基本特征的结论,从而反驳那些试图通过语言符号"理据性"反对任意性概念的观点。
The paper is designed to refute the idea of motivated signs,with a brief review of Saussurean account of arbitrariness in the first place,which is followed by arguments for arbitrariness from the perspectives of language origin,onomatopoeias,exclamations and iconic words,morphologic structure and etymologic features of signs;after that a simple conclusion is drawn,that arbitrariness is the fundamental principle of language.
