Four cases of name and description of things in ancient literature are presented in this article.(1)The silver inkslab uncovered from Tomb No.7 of Liao Dynasty at Yingfenggou in Aohan Banner is compared to the“copper handled inkslab”(乌铜提砚)recorded in“Chun Zhu Ji Wen”,a book written by Heyuan in Southern-Song Dynasty. The inkslab may be made of different materials such as copper and silver.(2)“Luo Shuang Shuang”(罗双双)is an anthropomorphic name ascribed to the drinking cup,“double-swimming-duck-shape”cup.“Luo”refers to the fabric material of woman’s shoes;and“Shuang Shuang”refers to paired shoes.(3)The scepter board sheath(笏囊)is evidenced by the long bag held by servants in the images in Yang Can’s tomb, the stone inscription of Song-Dynasty tomb collected in Huangze Temple, and the Song-Dynasty tomb at Qiaotoushan.(4)The brick inscriptions of Zaju scenario uncovered from the Song-Dynasty tombs at Jiuliugou and Guanlinmiao depict the image of one person holding bird cage and another blowing a whistle. It refers to the pictorial theme of birthday congratulation by“freeing captive pigeon from gold cage”(金笼放鸽).
