摘要
莎士比亚的剧作特别是历史剧所呈现出的"福斯塔夫式背景",为我们展示出伊丽莎白一世时期五光十色的平民社会,而其笔下野猪头酒店中哈尔王子及其伙伴则因为美酒而充满激情。实际上,随着社会的发展,莎士比亚时代的人们对酒类饮品的消费需求不断增加,酒馆也成为人们娱乐消遣的重要场所。本文拟从莎士比亚历史剧中的酒精饮料和酒店出发,指出其中大量出现的麦芽酒、啤酒和葡萄酒等酒精饮品所展示的同时代有关阶级、性别和国族等核心问题。
Shakespeare’s history plays offer us a vivid picture of the common lives in Elizabeth’s London,and his Prince Hal and the lads at the Boar’s-head Tavern in Eastcheap were impassioned by the scrumptious drink.As the development of society in Shakespeare’days,the consumption of alcohol such as ale,beer and wine had been increased rapidly,and the alehouse also became a very popular entertainment place in England.This paper aims to take Shakespeare’s history plays as examples,analyze the cultural meanings of alcohol and alehouses in his plays in the context of the contemporary thoughts of gender,class and national identity.
