摘要
从19世纪初开始,被称为“霍屯督维纳斯”的萨拉·巴特曼成为黑人女性性欲客体和商品化的对象,并充当了19世纪黑人女性他者性的中心模式。在众多关于巴特曼的文学作品中,小说和戏剧一直是研究的热点,也是引起关注最多的文学领域。相比之下,关于巴特曼的诗歌却鲜有关注。本文从公众凝视、医学凝视、对抗凝视的视角对诗歌作品中的巴特曼形象进行解读,审视“黑色维纳斯”刻板形象的生产过程,解释其背后的文化、种族、意识形态、认知方式的对立和冲突,并在凝视的权力关系下思考书写权力和再现伦理等深层次的问题。
From the beginning of the 19^(th)century,Saartjie Baartman,the so called“Hottentot Venus,”has been on the process of becoming the object of sexualized black women and the:commercialized target;meanwhile she also served as the central model of woman otherness in the 19^(th)century.Among the various literary works centered on Saartjie Baartman,novel and drama,as the focus of the academic studies,have been the most concerned fields.Comparatively speaking,the poems about Saartjie Baartman draw little attention.This article,from the perspectives of public gaze,medical gaze and oppositional gaze,based on detailed readings of poems about Saartjie Baartman,reexamines the productive process of the stereotype of Black Venus,revealing the contradiction and conflict of the culture,race,ideology and the way of self recognition behind the production process,and then reflects on such deeper issues as the power of writings and representation ethics from the perspective of gazing power relations.
