摘要
As an EFL teacher actively engaged in promoting communicative approach in teachingpost-intermediate students I have been all the time aware of the risks involved in classroomdiscussion and debate in the target language.Despite elaborate preparations on the part ofboth teacher and students and numerous encouraging cues from the teacher to induce anadequate interaction during the session,the end product is anything but satisfactory:fewmore able students may hog the showy for a few minutes while the rest clamp up,thenstony silence dominates and the teacher has recourse to monologue.
