The Emperor of Japan is the core of Japanese mythology. From Meiji Restoration to World War II,students in Japan were repeatedly told that Japan was the‘home of the God’and the‘land of the king’.To strengthen the status of the emperor, mythology was taken as historical facts infusing into people’s mind, bringing about grave consequence. After the war,the mythology transformed from a way of critical recognition to a material providing insight into what Japanese people had in mind during the foundation of the country after its status underwent several times’changes in Curriculum Guideline of Japan. This change has a negative impact on the historical understanding of Japan and its younger generation. However,as Japanese mythology is a part of Japanese traditional culture, mythology education also objectively promotes the inheritance and development of traditional culture.
