摘要
当代美国男性史萌发于20世纪70年代末,90年代以后逐渐与性别史合流,成为性别史的一个独特分支。萌芽时期的男性史既反映着女权主义的重要影响,又表现出男性史先驱的自我意识,但由于种种原因,男性史在20世纪90年代以前未受重视。80年代后期妇女史学界发生了"性别转向",不但改变了妇女史,也改变了男性史,让男性史在性别史的框架下找到一个合法的位置。在这一框架下,从性别史与史学史的双元视角梳理当代美国男性史的发展脉络,考察男性史和妇女史、性别史的关系等问题,具有重要的意义。男性史的兴起与女权运动有关,男性史新领域的开辟也使得大量男性学者进入到性别研究领域,改变了性别史领域的学术生态。此外,性别问题常常与阶级、种族等其他范畴交杂在一起,包括男性史在内的性别史逐渐被吸收到其他研究领域之中。因此,对男性史的考察也有助于我们从更加广阔的角度去理解当代美国史学的发展和变化。
American contemporary men’s history sprouted in the late 1970 s,gradually merged with gender history after the 1990 s,and became a unique branch of gender history.Men’s history in its budding period not only reflected the important influence of feminism,but also embodied the self-consciousness of the pioneers of men’s history.However,for various reasons,men’s history was not taken seriously before the 1990 s.In the late 1980 s,the"gender turn"occurred in the field of women’s history,which not only changed women’s history,but also changed men’s history,allowing men’s history to find a legitimate place within the framework of gender history.This article intends to discuss the development of contemporary American men’s history from the dual perspectives of gender history and history of historiography,and examine the relationship between men’s history,women’s history,and gender history.The rise of men’s history is related to the feminist movement,but the creation of this new field has enabled many male scholars to enter the field of gender history,which has changed the academic ecology of it.In addition,gender problems often intersect with other categories such as class and race,which results in the gradual absorption of gender history into other research fields.Therefore,the investigation of men’s history also helps us to view the development and changes of contemporary American history from a broader perspective.
