Before the 13th century AD, Tehran was only a village on the outskirts of Shahr-e-Rey, the capital of the time. During the Persian Empire, Rey was an important node on the ancient Silk Road. The Persian civilization inherited combining the essences from all over the world, being separated from the Western civilizations led by Rome and Greece and the oriental world dominated by Chinese civilization, always shows its unique charm.
