摘要
语言相对论经历了一段曲折的历史沉浮历程,从它提出之时就引起了大量的理论激辩和实验研究。从萨丕尔–沃尔夫假说到新沃尔夫假说的研究转向从本质上来说重新将语言相对论确立为一个研究课题,促使语言相对论研究的转向与调整,实现实证研究的转型突破。本文基于如上考量,重新审视这种研究转向的历史背景与触发动因,重点分析萨丕尔–沃尔夫假说与新沃尔夫假说在研究术语、研究缘由、研究变量和研究目标四个方面的差异性表现,并全面解读新沃尔夫假说的研究理据、研究思路以及实证研究的新趋势。
Linguistic relativity has experienced a tortuous and fluctuating procedure,and aroused massive theoretical debates and empirical studies ever since its term was dubbed.The research turn from the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis to the neo-Whorfian hypothesis means re-designating linguistic relativity as a research thesis and promoting the research turn and adjustment of linguistic relativity in order to realize the turn breakthrough regarding its empirical studies.Based on this consideration,this paper re-investigates the historical backgrounds and the triggering factors of this research turn,analyzes the differences that the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis and the neo-Whorfian hypothesis exhibit regarding key terms,motivations,variables,and objectives,and then illustrates the research rationale,approach and empirical fronts of the neo-Whorf hypothesis.
