摘要
归纳了英语习语翻译中“望文生义”的四种现象:译文语义不全、译文语义扩大、译文和原文语义相反、译文和原文看似一致,但未揭示喻意或引申义。分析了其产生的原因:基础知识不牢、文化熏陶不够、对英汉习语的异同了解不深。从而提出了在教学中要注意的三个方面:扎实基础知识、加强文化熏陶、提高翻译技巧。
Based on four aspects of the phenomenon-taking the words too literally-in the course of translating English idioms into Chinese, namely, versions with incomplete meaning, versions with expanded meaning, versions opposite to the original in meaning, and apparently similar versions which do not reveal the metaphorical meaning and extended meaning, this paper analyses its major causes: poor basic knowledge, lacking cultural edification, not familiar with the difference and similarity between Chinese idioms and English ones, and then puts forward three teaching countermeasures, that is, laying a good foundation on basic knowledge, strengthening cultural edification, and improving translation skills.
