摘要
佛经翻译鼎盛适逢唐朝的全面繁荣,二者的同生共荣折射出翻译与国家治理之间的双向辩证关系。翻译与国家治理是一种相互影响、相互促进的双向互动关系,具体表现在身份的双重性与路径的双向性。皇权国家既作为治理主体管理翻译活动,又作为治理客体受到翻译的影响。佛经翻译既作为被治理对象接受皇权国家的治理,也作为协同治理主体参与国家治理,执行政权维护功能。唐代皇权国家通过译者身份编制化、译场机构化、翻译活动的赞助行为、翻译过程的规范化四重治理手段建构起国家翻译治理体系,赋予翻译国家使命与统治者的意识形态。同时,佛经翻译作为治理手段,主动履行治理职能,通过维护皇权统治的合理性,引导意识形态和疏导民心,建构皇权国家的正面形象三种手段参与国家治理。唐代佛经翻译与国家治理的双向互动性显示出文化翻译与国家治理的深度关联,对理解文化翻译的价值以及翻译与治理的辩证关系具有重要意义。
The coexistence between the climax of the Buddhist sutra translation and the overall prosperity of Tang Dynasty reflects the bi-directional and dialectical correlation between translation and state governance.The bi-directional interaction between translation and state governance manifests itself in the duality of the identity and the bi-directionality of the governing route.This interaction is reflected by the sutra translation of Tang Dynasty.As the governing party,the imperial power managed translation activities while accepting the impacts of sutra translation.Buddhist sutra translation is under the governance of the imperial power while participating in the state governance as a member of the collaborative governing subject.The imperial power of the Tang Dynasty administered the translation governance through four means,i.e.,the institutionalization of translators,the management of translation field,the sponsorship of translation activities and the standardization of translation process,endowing translation with the national mission and the ruling ideology.Meanwhile,as a means of governance,Buddhist sutra translation takes the initiative to perform governing responsibilities,and participates in national governance by rationalizing the imperial rule,guiding ideology,and building up a positive image of the state.The twoway interaction between Buddhist sutra translation and state governance in Tang Dynasty shows the deep correlation between cultural translation and national governance,which has profound implications for comprehending the value of cultural translation and the dialectical relationship between translation and governance.
