摘要
语言测试中话题熟悉度的影响研究一直是国外研究的热点之一,国内商务英语写作的相关实证研究较为匮乏。本文基于Tardy(2009)的体裁知识框架,收集校本商务英语写作成绩测试数据,应用多层面Rasch模型与多元回归分析进行交叉验证,综合考察话题差异、话题熟悉度以及通用英语写作水平对非英语专业大学生商务英语写作任务表现的影响。研究发现,话题熟悉度在内容与体裁格式方面对学生商务英语写作表现的影响较为显著,其中话题熟悉度对写作表现有积极影响,主要表现为:1)学生写作中容易联想话题知识;2)具备充分的中文背景话题知识的学生表现较好;3)话题熟悉度有助于学生在实际写作中对所写内容有适当拓展。本研究可为商务英语写作的教学与测试提供参考和启示。
In the language assessment feld,the effect of topical knowledge has been a hot issue for researchers while being less addressed on business English writing.Based on Tardy’s Genre Knowledge Model,this paper has collected data from business English writing achievement tests,and employed Many-Facet Rasch Model and multivariate regression analysis to investigate the effects of topic difference and topic familiarity on college students’business English(BE)writing performance.The study also has probed into the impact of general English writing profciency.It is concluded that topic familiarity exerts a signifcant infuence on students’BE writing performance in terms of content and genre format,where its advantages are represented by producing topic-related ideas easily from memory,presuming Chinese topical knowledge or enriching the content in writing.It is hoped that the study could provide some implications for BE writing pedagogy and assessment.
