Using e^(+)e^(−)annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb^(−1)taken at the center-of-mass energy√s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector,a joint amplitude analysis is performed on the decays...Using e^(+)e^(−)annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb^(−1)taken at the center-of-mass energy√s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector,a joint amplitude analysis is performed on the decays D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(+)π^(−)and D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(0)π^(0)(non-η).The fit fractions of individual components are obtained,and large interferences among the dominant components of the decays D^(0)→a_(1)(1260)π,D^(0)→π(1300)π,D^(0)→ρ(770)ρ(770),and D^(0)→2(ππ)_(S)are observed in both channels.With the obtained amplitude model,the CP-even fractions of D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(+)π^(−)and D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(0)π^(0)(non-η)are determined to be(75.2±1.1_(stat).±1.5_(syst.))%and(68.9±1.5_(stat).±2.4_(syst.))%,respectively.The branching fractions of D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(+)π^(−)and D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(0)π^(0)(non-η)are measured to be(0.688±0.010_(stat.)±0.010_(syst.))%and(0.951±0.025_(stat.)±0.021_(syst.))%,respectively.The amplitude analysis provides an important model for the binning strategy in measuring the strong phase parameters of D^(0)→4πwhen used to determine the CKM angleγ(ϕ_(3))via the B^(−)→DK^(−)decay.展开更多

We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed Z_(cs)(3985)^(-) state,denoted as Z_(cs)^('-),in the process e^(+)e^(−)→K^(+)D_(s)^(∗−) D^(∗0 )+ c.c.,based on e^(*)e^(-)collision data collected ...We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed Z_(cs)(3985)^(-) state,denoted as Z_(cs)^('-),in the process e^(+)e^(−)→K^(+)D_(s)^(∗−) D^(∗0 )+ c.c.,based on e^(*)e^(-)collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of √s=4.661,4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector.The Z_(cs)^('-) is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark.A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate K^(+)recoil-mass spectra,which are probed for a potential contribution from Z_(cs)^('-)→D_(s)^(∗−) D^(∗0 )+ c.c.We find an excess of Z_(cs)^('-)→D_(s)^(*-)-D^(*0)(c.c.)candidates with a significance of 2.1o,after considering systematic uncertainties,at a mass of(4123.5±0.7_(sat)±4.7_(syst.))MeV/c^(2).As the data set is limited in size,the upper limits are evaluated at the 90%confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections(σ^(Borm))and the branching fraction(B)of Z_(cs)^('-)→D_(s)^(*-)-D^(*0),under different assumptions of the Z_(cs)^('-) mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies.The upper limits of σ^(Born).B are found to be at the level of O(1)pb at each energy.Larger data samples are needed to confirm the Z_(cs)^('-) state and clarify its nature in the coming years.展开更多

Background:Noncommunicable diseases(NCDs)are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of NCDs among the population of Cyprus and to identify the dist...Background:Noncommunicable diseases(NCDs)are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of NCDs among the population of Cyprus and to identify the distribution of the socioeconomic and demographic determinants among individuals with the most frequent NCDs.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted using stratified sampling.Socioeconomic and demographic characteristics and the presence of NCDs were collected through a standardized questionnaire.The diseases were classified using the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases(ICD-10).Results:In total,1140 individuals participated in the study,among whom 590(51.7%)had at least one chronic disease.The most prevalent NCDs were hyperlipidemia(17.4%),hypertension(12.9%),and thyroid diseases(8.4%).We identified more males than females with hyperlipidemia aged 25–44 years old and>65 years old(p=0.024),more males compared to females with hypertension(p=0.001)and more females compared to males with thyroid diseases(p<0.001).Individuals with hypertension and hyperlipidemia were more likely to be married,to have completed a higher education,and to have a high annual income.Discussion:In Cyprus,the majority of the general population had at least one NCD.Hyperlipidemia,hypertension,and thyroid disease are relatively common,even at younger ages,highlighting the need for the development of public health programs aimed at addressing and preventing NCDs.展开更多

Ground-level ozone(O_(3)) aff ects vegetation and threatens environmental health when levels exceed critical values,above which adverse eff ects are expected.Cyprus is expected to be a hotspot for O_(3)concentrations ...Ground-level ozone(O_(3)) aff ects vegetation and threatens environmental health when levels exceed critical values,above which adverse eff ects are expected.Cyprus is expected to be a hotspot for O_(3)concentrations due to its unique position in the eastern Mediterranean,receiving air masses from Europe,African,and Asian continents,and experiencing a warm Mediterranean climate.In Cyprus,the spatiotemporal features of O_(3) are poorly understood and the potential risks for forest health have not been explored.We evaluated O_(3) and nitrogen oxides(NO and NO 2)at four regional background stations at different altitudes over 2014−2016.O_(3) risks to vegetation and human health were estimated by calculating accumulated O_(3)exposure over a threshold of 40 nmol mol^(−1)(AOT40)and cumulative exposure to mixing ratios above 35 nmol mol^(−1)(SOMO35)indices.The data reveal that mean O_(3)concentrations follow a seasonal pattern,with higher levels in spring(51.8 nmol mol^(−1))and summer(53.2 nmol mol^(−1))and lower levels in autumn(46.9 nmol mol^(−1))and winter(43.3 nmol mol^(−1)).The highest mean O_(3)exposure(59.5 nmol mol^(−1)) in summer occurred at the high elevation station Mt.Troodos(1819 m a.s.l.).Increasing(decreasing)altitudinal gradients were found for O_(3)(NO x),driven by summer–winter diff erences.The diurnal patterns of O_(3) showed little variation.Only at the lowest altitude O_(3) displayed a typical O_(3) diurnal pattern,with hourly diff erences smaller than 15 nmol mol^(−1).Accumulated O_(3) exposures at all stations and in all years exceeded the European Union’s limits for the protection of vegetation,with average values of 3-month(limit:3000 nmol mol^(−1)h)and 6-month(limit:5000 nmol mol^(−1)h)AOT40 for crops and forests of 16,564 and 31,836 nmol mol^(−1)h,respectively.O_(3) exposures were considerably high for human health,with an average SOMO35 value of 7270 nmol mol^(−1) days across stations and years.The results indicate that O_(3) is a major environmental and public h展开更多

According to their RLS status, the patients were dividedinto the RLS group(n = 23) and the non-RLS group(n = 62). QoL, fatigue, sleep quality, daily sleepiness and depression symptoms were assessed by using various questionnaires. Finally, biochemical parameters including iron, ferritin, hemoglobin, hematocrit and parathormone were assessed. RESULTS The HD patients with RLS scored worse in all the questionnaires used in the study(P < 0.05). The patients with RLS were more likely to receive the HD therapy on the morning shift, whilst 43.5% of the RLS patients reported to experience the RLS symptoms also during HD. The severity of RLS was correlated with fatigue, depression score and sleep quality(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION HD patients with RLS are subject to lower QoL related parameters and greater fatigue compared to HD patients without RLS. RLS should be successfully managed in order to improve the QoL of the sufferers.展开更多

The rapid urbanization of the cities such as Bujumbura, economic capital of Burundi, is one of these factors. The very first characterization of the spatio-temporal variability of PM<sub>2.5</sub> in Bujumbura and the forecasting of PM<sub>2.5</sub> concentration have been conducted in this paper using data collected during a year, from August 2022 to August 2023, by low-cost sensors installed in Bujumbura city. For each commune, an hourly, daily and seasonal analysis was carried out and the results showed that the mass concentrations of PM<sub>2.5</sub> in the three municipalities differ from one commune to another. The average hourly and annual PM<sub>2.5</sub> concentrations exceed the World Health Organization standards. The range is between 28.3 and 35.0 μg/m<sup>3</sup>. In order to make a prediction of PM<sub>2.5</sub> concentration, an investigation of Recurrent Neural Networks with Long Short-Term Memory has been undertaken.展开更多

Participants in mixed-species bird flocks(MSFs)have been shown to associate with species that are similar in body size,diet,and evolutionary history,suggesting that facilitation structures these assemblages.In additio...Participants in mixed-species bird flocks(MSFs)have been shown to associate with species that are similar in body size,diet,and evolutionary history,suggesting that facilitation structures these assemblages.In addition,several studies have suggested that species in MsFs resemble each other in their plumage,but this question has not been systematically investigated for any MsF system.During the nonbreeding season of 2020 and 2021,we sampled 585 MSFs on 14 transects in 2 habitats of Tongbiguang Nature Reserve in western Yunnan Province,China.We performed social network analysis and the Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure to evaluate the effect of 4 species traits(body size,overall plumage color,distinctive plumage patterns,and diet)and evolutionary history on species association strength at the whole-MSF and within-MSF levels.All 41 significant relationships showed that species with stronger associations were more similar in their various traits.Body size had the strongest effect on association strength,followed by phylogeny,plumage patterns,and plumage color;diet had the weakest effect.Our results are consistent with the hypotheses that the benefits of associating with phenotypically similar species outweigh the potential costs of interspecific competition,and that trait matching can occur in plumage characteristics,albeit more weakly than in other traits.Several explanations exist as to why similarities in plumage may occur in MSFs,including that they could reduce predators'ability to target phenotypically"odd"individuals.Whether trait matching in plumage occurs through assortative processes in ecological time or is influenced by co-evolution requires furtherstudy.展开更多
Background:The liver is fundamental for keeping up the entire body’s homeostasis.The liver hepatocytes have been shown to undergo genomic instability with aging.The stability of the hepatocytes depends on its nuclear...Background:The liver is fundamental for keeping up the entire body’s homeostasis.The liver hepatocytes have been shown to undergo genomic instability with aging.The stability of the hepatocytes depends on its nuclear architecture.Calorie restriction has been shown to extend life-span favorably and this may be through the reorganization of the nuclear structure.Objective:To study the effect of cyclic feeding regime on the chromatin assembly anchored to the nuclear membrane scaffold of rat models hepatocytes nuclei.Method:Rats models underwent cyclic feeding regime,after which nuclei were isolated;then,we investigated the chromatin decondensation and nuclear membrane disintegration of the hepatocytes using fluorescence imaging methods.Results:In 60 seconds,protease decondensed the chromatin and disintegrated the nuclear membrane structure of controls.After the first fasting,the time increased to 145 seconds in 3-month-old rats.The first refeeding increased the time to 156 seconds with a further rise to 340 seconds following the second fasting,then dropped to 116 seconds by the second refeeding.20 months old rats showed 186 seconds increase in the time of chromatin decondensation and nuclear membrane disintegration after the first fasting,with a decrease to 140 seconds observed after first refeeding.The second fasting increased the time to 165 seconds,which then slightly decreased to 163 seconds after the second refeeding.Conclusion:These results show that intermittent fasting may have acted on chromatin histone interactions and the structural lamin networks of the nuclear membranes in bringing about nuclear stability,which is essential for normal cellular function.展开更多

Professional dance is characterized by high impulsiveness,elegance,and aesthetic beauty.In order to reach the desired professionalism,it requires years of long and exhausting practice,good physical condition,musicalit...Professional dance is characterized by high impulsiveness,elegance,and aesthetic beauty.In order to reach the desired professionalism,it requires years of long and exhausting practice,good physical condition,musicality,but also,a good understanding of choreography.Capturing dance motions and transferring them to digital avatars is commonly used in the film and entertainment industries.However,so far,access to high-quality dance data is very limited,mainly due to the many practical difficulties in capturing the movements of dancers,making it prohibitive for largescale data acquisition.In this paper,we present a model that enhances the professionalism of amateur dance movements,allowing movement quality to be improved in both spatial and temporal domains.Our model consists of a dance-to-music alignment stage responsible for learning the optimal temporal alignment path between dance and music,and a dance-enhancement stage that injects features of professionalism in both spatial and temporal domains.To learn a homogeneous distribution and credible mapping between the heterogeneous professional and amateur datasets,we generate amateur data from professional dances taken from the AIST++dataset.We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method by comparing it with two baseline motion transfer methods via thorough qualitative visual controls,quantitative metrics,and a perceptual study.We also provide temporal and spatial module analysis to examine the mechanisms and necessity of key components of our framework.展开更多
BACKGROUND Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors(SGLT2i)significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular(CV)and renal adverse events in patients with diabetes mellitus,heart failure(HF)and/or chronic kidney diseas...BACKGROUND Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors(SGLT2i)significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular(CV)and renal adverse events in patients with diabetes mellitus,heart failure(HF)and/or chronic kidney disease.We performed a meta-analysis to explore the impact of several different SGLT2i on all-cause mortality,CV mortality,HF hospitalizations and the combined outcome CV death/HF hospitalization in HF patients across the spectrum of left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)phenotypes.METHODS A systematic search in MEDLINE database and Cochrane library through March 2021 was performed without limitations.Randomized clinical trials that provided data about the impact of SGLT2i on all-cause mortality,CV mortality,HF hospitalizations or the combined outcome of CV death/HF hospitalization in HF patients were included.A random effects model was used for calculating the effect estimates.RESULTS Nine studies(n=16,723 patients,mean age:65.9 years,males:70.7%)were included in the quantitative synthesis.Compared to placebo,SGLT2i use was associated with 14%lower risk of all-cause mortality[hazard ratio(HR)=0.86,95%CI:0.78−0.94,I^(2)=0,P=0.0008],32%lower risk of HF hospitalizations(HR=0.68,95%CI:0.62−0.74,I^(2)=0,P<0.001),14%lower risk of CV mortality(HR=0.86,95%CI:0.77−0.95,I^(2)=0,P=0.003)and 26%lower risk of CV death/HF hospitalization(HR=0.74,95%CI:0.68−0.80,I^(2)=0,P<0.001).Regarding the safety outcomes,our data revealed no significant differences between SGLT2i and placebo groups in drug related discontinuations,amputations,severe hypoglycemia,hypotension,volume depletion,ketoacidosis and genital infections.By contrast,a protective role of SGLT2i against placebo was found for serious adverse events and acute kidney injury.CONCLUSIONS In patients with HF,regardless of LVEF phenotype,all SGLT2i had an excellent safety profile and significantly reduced the risk of all-cause mortality,CV mortality,HF hospitalizations and CV deaths/HF hospitalizations compared to placebo.展开更多
BACKGROUND Violence against healthcare workers(HCWs)in the Caribbean continues to prevail yet remains underreported.Our aim is to determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the Caribbean.AIM To...BACKGROUND Violence against healthcare workers(HCWs)in the Caribbean continues to prevail yet remains underreported.Our aim is to determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the Caribbean.AIM To determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the Caribbean.METHODS This research adopted an online cross-sectional survey approach,spanning over eight weeks(between June 6th and August 9th,2022).The survey was generated using Research Electronic Data Capture forms and followed a snowballing strategy to contact individuals using emails,social media,text messages,etc.Logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the variables that influence violence,including gender,age,years of experience,institution type,and night shift frequency.RESULTS The survey was completed by 225 HCWs.Females comprised 61%.Over 51%of respondents belonged to the 21 to 35 age group.Dominica(n=61),Haiti(n=50),and Grenada(n=31)had the most responses.Most HCWs(49%)worked for government academic institutions,followed by community hospitals(23%).Medical students(32%),followed by attending physicians(22%),and others(16%)comprised the most common cadre of respondents.About 39%of the participants reported experiencing violence themselves,and 18%reported violence against colleague(s).Verbal violence(48%),emotional abuse(24%),and physical misconduct(14%)were the most common types of violence.Nearly 63%of respondents identified patients or their relatives as the most frequent aggressors.Univariate logistic regression analyses demonstrated that female gender(OR=2.08;95%CI:1.16-3.76,P=0.014)and higher frequency of night shifts(OR=2.22;95%CI:1.08-4.58,P=0.030)were associated with significantly higher odds of experiencing violence.More than 50%of HCWs felt less motivated and had decreased job satisfaction post-violent conduct.CONCLUSION A large proportion of HCWS in the Caribbean are exposed to violence,yet the phenomenon remains underreported.As a result,HCWs’job satisfaction has diminished.展开更多
Tropospheric ozone(O_(3))concentration is increasing in China along with dramatic changes in precursor emissions and meteorological conditions,adversely affecting human health and ecosystems.O_(3) is formed from the c...Tropospheric ozone(O_(3))concentration is increasing in China along with dramatic changes in precursor emissions and meteorological conditions,adversely affecting human health and ecosystems.O_(3) is formed from the complex nonlinear photochemical reactions from nitrogen oxides(NOx=NO+NO_(2))and volatile organic compounds(VOCs).Although the mechanism of O_(3) formation is rather clear,describing and analyzing its changes and formation potential at fine spatial and temporal resolution is still a challenge today.In this study,we briefly summarized and evaluated different approaches that indicate O_(3) formation regimes.We identify that atmospheric oxidation capacity(AOC)is a better indicator of photochemical reactions leading to the formation of O_(3) and other secondary pollutants.Results show that AOC has a prominent positive relationship to O_(3) in the major city clusters in China,with a goodness of fit(R^(2))up to 0.6.This outcome provides a novel perspective in characterizing O_(3) formation and has significant implications for formulating control strategies of secondary pollutants.展开更多
While antibiotic resistance is becoming increasingly serious today,there is almost no doubt that more challenging times await us in the future.Resistant microorganisms have increased in the past decades leading to lim...While antibiotic resistance is becoming increasingly serious today,there is almost no doubt that more challenging times await us in the future.Resistant microorganisms have increased in the past decades leading to limited treatment options,along with higher morbidity and mortality.Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the significant microorganisms causing major public health problems by acquiring resistance to antibiotics and acting as an opportunistic pathogen of healthcare-associated infections.The production of extended spectrumbeta-lactamases(ESBL)is one of the resistance mechanisms of K.pneumoniae against antibiotics.In this study,the future clinical situation of ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae was investigated in order to reflect the future scenarios to understand the severity of the issue and to determine critical points to prevent the spread of the ESBL-producing strain.For evaluation purposes,SIS-type mathematical modeling was used with retrospective medical data from the period from 2016 to 2019.Stability of the disease-free equilibrium and basic reproduction ratios were calculated.Numerical simulation of the SISmodel was conducted to describe the dynamics of non-ESBL and ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae.In order to determine the most impactful parameter on the basic reproduction ratio,sensitivity analysis was performed.A study on mathematical modeling using data on ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae strains has not previously been performed in any health institution in Northern Cyprus,and the efficiency of the parameters determining the spread of the relevant strains has not been investigated.Through this study,the spread of ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae in a hospital environment was evaluated using a different approach.According to the study,in approximately seventy months,ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae strains will exceed non-ESBL K.pneumoniae strains.As a result,the analyses showed that hospital admissions and people infected with non-ESBL or ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae have the highest rate of spreading the infections.In ad展开更多

文摘Using e^(+)e^(−)annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb^(−1)taken at the center-of-mass energy√s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector,a joint amplitude analysis is performed on the decays D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(+)π^(−)and D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(0)π^(0)(non-η).The fit fractions of individual components are obtained,and large interferences among the dominant components of the decays D^(0)→a_(1)(1260)π,D^(0)→π(1300)π,D^(0)→ρ(770)ρ(770),and D^(0)→2(ππ)_(S)are observed in both channels.With the obtained amplitude model,the CP-even fractions of D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(+)π^(−)and D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(0)π^(0)(non-η)are determined to be(75.2±1.1_(stat).±1.5_(syst.))%and(68.9±1.5_(stat).±2.4_(syst.))%,respectively.The branching fractions of D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(+)π^(−)and D^(0)→π^(+)π^(−)π^(0)π^(0)(non-η)are measured to be(0.688±0.010_(stat.)±0.010_(syst.))%and(0.951±0.025_(stat.)±0.021_(syst.))%,respectively.The amplitude analysis provides an important model for the binning strategy in measuring the strong phase parameters of D^(0)→4πwhen used to determine the CKM angleγ(ϕ_(3))via the B^(−)→DK^(−)decay.
文摘Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathies(CMT)constitute a group of common but highly heterogeneous,non-syndromic genetic disorders affecting predominantly the peripheral nervous system.CMT type 1A(CMT1A)is the most frequent type and accounts for almost~50%of all diagnosed CMT cases.CMT1A results from the duplication of the peripheral myelin protein 22(PMP22)gene.Overexpression of PMP22 protein overloads the protein folding apparatus in Schwann cells and activates the unfolded protein response.This leads to Schwann cell apoptosis,dys-and de-myelination and secondary axonal degeneration,ultimately causing neurological disabilities.During the last decades,several different gene therapies have been developed to treat CMT1A.Almost all of them remain at the pre-clinical stage using CMT1A animal models overexpressing PMP22.The therapeutic goal is to achieve gene silencing,directly or indirectly,thereby reversing the CMT1A genetic mechanism allowing the recovery of myelination and prevention of axonal loss.As promising treatments are rapidly emerging,treatment-responsive and clinically relevant biomarkers are becoming necessary.These biomarkers and sensitive clinical evaluation tools will facilitate the design and successful completion of future clinical trials for CMT1A.

文摘Cytokine storms are crucial in the development of various inflammatory diseases,including sepsis and autoimmune disorders.The immunosuppressive cytokine INTERLEUKIN(IL)-37 consists of five isoforms(IL-37a-e).We identified IL-37a as a nuclear cytokine for the first time.Compared to IL-37b,IL-37a demonstrated greater efficacy in protecting against Toll-like receptor-induced cytokine hypersecretion and lethal endotoxic shock.The full-length(FL)form of IL-37a and the N-terminal fragment,which is processed by elastase,could translocate into cell nuclei through a distinctive nuclear localization sequence(NLS)/importin nuclear transport pathway.These forms exerted their regulatory effects independent of the IL-1R8 receptor by transcriptionally upregulating the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPARγ).This process involved the recruitment of the H3K4 methyltransferase complex WDR5/MLL4/C/EBPβand H3K4me1/2 to the enhancer/promoter of Pparg.The receptor-independent regulatory pathway of the nuclear IL-37a–PPARγaxis and receptor-dependent signaling by secreted IL-37a maintain homeostasis and are potential therapeutic targets for various inflammatory diseases,including sepsis.

文摘Using data taken at 29 center-of-mass energies between 4.16 and 4.70 GeV with the BESⅢdetector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of approximately 18.8 fb^(-1),the process e^(+)e^(-)→pppñπ+c.c.is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of 11.5σ.The average Born cross sections in the energy ranges of(4.160,4.380)GeV,(4.400,4.600)GeV and(4.610,4.700)GeV are measured to be(21.5±5.7±1.2)fb,(46.3±10.6±2.5)fb and(59.0±9.4±3.2)fb,respectively,where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.The line shapes of the pñ and ppπ^(-)invariant mass spectra are consistent with phase space distributions,indicating that no hexaquark or di-baryon state is observed.

文摘We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed Z_(cs)(3985)^(-) state,denoted as Z_(cs)^('-),in the process e^(+)e^(−)→K^(+)D_(s)^(∗−) D^(∗0 )+ c.c.,based on e^(*)e^(-)collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of √s=4.661,4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector.The Z_(cs)^('-) is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark.A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate K^(+)recoil-mass spectra,which are probed for a potential contribution from Z_(cs)^('-)→D_(s)^(∗−) D^(∗0 )+ c.c.We find an excess of Z_(cs)^('-)→D_(s)^(*-)-D^(*0)(c.c.)candidates with a significance of 2.1o,after considering systematic uncertainties,at a mass of(4123.5±0.7_(sat)±4.7_(syst.))MeV/c^(2).As the data set is limited in size,the upper limits are evaluated at the 90%confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections(σ^(Borm))and the branching fraction(B)of Z_(cs)^('-)→D_(s)^(*-)-D^(*0),under different assumptions of the Z_(cs)^('-) mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies.The upper limits of σ^(Born).B are found to be at the level of O(1)pb at each energy.Larger data samples are needed to confirm the Z_(cs)^('-) state and clarify its nature in the coming years.

文摘Using electron-positron annihilation data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb-1,collected by the BESⅢdetector in the energy region between 4599.53 MeV and 4698.82 MeV,we report the first observations of the Cabibbo-suppressed decaysΛ_(c)^(+)→nπ^(+)π^(0),Λ_(c)^(+)→nπ^(+)π^(-)π^(+),and the Cabibbo-favored decayΛ_(c)^(+)→nK^(-)π^(+)π^(+)with statistical significances of 7.9σ,7.8σ,and>10σ,respectively.The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be B(Λ_(c)^(+)→nπ^(+)π^(0))=(0.64±0.09±0.02)%,B(Λ_(c)^(+)→nπ^(+)π^(-)π^(+))=(0.45±0.07±0.03)%,and B(Λ_(c)^(+)→nK^(-)π^(+)π^(+))=(1.90±0.08±0.09)%,where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.We find that the branching fraction of the decayΛ_(c)^(+)→nπ^(+)π^(0)is about one order of magnitude higher than that ofΛ_(c)^(+)→nπ^(+).
文摘Background:Noncommunicable diseases(NCDs)are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of NCDs among the population of Cyprus and to identify the distribution of the socioeconomic and demographic determinants among individuals with the most frequent NCDs.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted using stratified sampling.Socioeconomic and demographic characteristics and the presence of NCDs were collected through a standardized questionnaire.The diseases were classified using the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases(ICD-10).Results:In total,1140 individuals participated in the study,among whom 590(51.7%)had at least one chronic disease.The most prevalent NCDs were hyperlipidemia(17.4%),hypertension(12.9%),and thyroid diseases(8.4%).We identified more males than females with hyperlipidemia aged 25–44 years old and>65 years old(p=0.024),more males compared to females with hypertension(p=0.001)and more females compared to males with thyroid diseases(p<0.001).Individuals with hypertension and hyperlipidemia were more likely to be married,to have completed a higher education,and to have a high annual income.Discussion:In Cyprus,the majority of the general population had at least one NCD.Hyperlipidemia,hypertension,and thyroid disease are relatively common,even at younger ages,highlighting the need for the development of public health programs aimed at addressing and preventing NCDs.

文摘Ground-level ozone(O_(3)) aff ects vegetation and threatens environmental health when levels exceed critical values,above which adverse eff ects are expected.Cyprus is expected to be a hotspot for O_(3)concentrations due to its unique position in the eastern Mediterranean,receiving air masses from Europe,African,and Asian continents,and experiencing a warm Mediterranean climate.In Cyprus,the spatiotemporal features of O_(3) are poorly understood and the potential risks for forest health have not been explored.We evaluated O_(3) and nitrogen oxides(NO and NO 2)at four regional background stations at different altitudes over 2014−2016.O_(3) risks to vegetation and human health were estimated by calculating accumulated O_(3)exposure over a threshold of 40 nmol mol^(−1)(AOT40)and cumulative exposure to mixing ratios above 35 nmol mol^(−1)(SOMO35)indices.The data reveal that mean O_(3)concentrations follow a seasonal pattern,with higher levels in spring(51.8 nmol mol^(−1))and summer(53.2 nmol mol^(−1))and lower levels in autumn(46.9 nmol mol^(−1))and winter(43.3 nmol mol^(−1)).The highest mean O_(3)exposure(59.5 nmol mol^(−1)) in summer occurred at the high elevation station Mt.Troodos(1819 m a.s.l.).Increasing(decreasing)altitudinal gradients were found for O_(3)(NO x),driven by summer–winter diff erences.The diurnal patterns of O_(3) showed little variation.Only at the lowest altitude O_(3) displayed a typical O_(3) diurnal pattern,with hourly diff erences smaller than 15 nmol mol^(−1).Accumulated O_(3) exposures at all stations and in all years exceeded the European Union’s limits for the protection of vegetation,with average values of 3-month(limit:3000 nmol mol^(−1)h)and 6-month(limit:5000 nmol mol^(−1)h)AOT40 for crops and forests of 16,564 and 31,836 nmol mol^(−1)h,respectively.O_(3) exposures were considerably high for human health,with an average SOMO35 value of 7270 nmol mol^(−1) days across stations and years.The results indicate that O_(3) is a major environmental and public h
文摘AIM To examine whether hemodialysis(HD) patients with restless legs syndrome(RLS) are subjects of greater fatigue and impaired quality of life(QoL) compared to HD patients without RLS.METHODS Eighty five stable HD patients participated in this study. According to their RLS status, the patients were dividedinto the RLS group(n = 23) and the non-RLS group(n = 62). QoL, fatigue, sleep quality, daily sleepiness and depression symptoms were assessed by using various questionnaires. Finally, biochemical parameters including iron, ferritin, hemoglobin, hematocrit and parathormone were assessed. RESULTS The HD patients with RLS scored worse in all the questionnaires used in the study(P < 0.05). The patients with RLS were more likely to receive the HD therapy on the morning shift, whilst 43.5% of the RLS patients reported to experience the RLS symptoms also during HD. The severity of RLS was correlated with fatigue, depression score and sleep quality(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION HD patients with RLS are subject to lower QoL related parameters and greater fatigue compared to HD patients without RLS. RLS should be successfully managed in order to improve the QoL of the sufferers.
文摘Air pollution is a result of multiple sources including both natural and anthropogenic activities. The rapid urbanization of the cities such as Bujumbura, economic capital of Burundi, is one of these factors. The very first characterization of the spatio-temporal variability of PM<sub>2.5</sub> in Bujumbura and the forecasting of PM<sub>2.5</sub> concentration have been conducted in this paper using data collected during a year, from August 2022 to August 2023, by low-cost sensors installed in Bujumbura city. For each commune, an hourly, daily and seasonal analysis was carried out and the results showed that the mass concentrations of PM<sub>2.5</sub> in the three municipalities differ from one commune to another. The average hourly and annual PM<sub>2.5</sub> concentrations exceed the World Health Organization standards. The range is between 28.3 and 35.0 μg/m<sup>3</sup>. In order to make a prediction of PM<sub>2.5</sub> concentration, an investigation of Recurrent Neural Networks with Long Short-Term Memory has been undertaken.

文摘Aging degradation and seismic damage of civil infrastructures have become a serious issue for society,and one promising technology for monitoring their conditions is optical fiber sensing.Glass optical fibers have been predominantly used for the past several decades to develop fiber sensors,but currently polymer or plastic optical fibers(POFs)have also been used extensively to develop advanced fiber sensors because of their unique features,such as high flexibility,large breakage strain,and impact resistance.This review focuses on recently developed distributed and quasi-distributed POF-based sensing techniques based on Rayleigh scattering,Brillouin scattering,and fiber Bragg gratings.

文摘Participants in mixed-species bird flocks(MSFs)have been shown to associate with species that are similar in body size,diet,and evolutionary history,suggesting that facilitation structures these assemblages.In addition,several studies have suggested that species in MsFs resemble each other in their plumage,but this question has not been systematically investigated for any MsF system.During the nonbreeding season of 2020 and 2021,we sampled 585 MSFs on 14 transects in 2 habitats of Tongbiguang Nature Reserve in western Yunnan Province,China.We performed social network analysis and the Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure to evaluate the effect of 4 species traits(body size,overall plumage color,distinctive plumage patterns,and diet)and evolutionary history on species association strength at the whole-MSF and within-MSF levels.All 41 significant relationships showed that species with stronger associations were more similar in their various traits.Body size had the strongest effect on association strength,followed by phylogeny,plumage patterns,and plumage color;diet had the weakest effect.Our results are consistent with the hypotheses that the benefits of associating with phenotypically similar species outweigh the potential costs of interspecific competition,and that trait matching can occur in plumage characteristics,albeit more weakly than in other traits.Several explanations exist as to why similarities in plumage may occur in MSFs,including that they could reduce predators'ability to target phenotypically"odd"individuals.Whether trait matching in plumage occurs through assortative processes in ecological time or is influenced by co-evolution requires furtherstudy.

文摘Background:The liver is fundamental for keeping up the entire body’s homeostasis.The liver hepatocytes have been shown to undergo genomic instability with aging.The stability of the hepatocytes depends on its nuclear architecture.Calorie restriction has been shown to extend life-span favorably and this may be through the reorganization of the nuclear structure.Objective:To study the effect of cyclic feeding regime on the chromatin assembly anchored to the nuclear membrane scaffold of rat models hepatocytes nuclei.Method:Rats models underwent cyclic feeding regime,after which nuclei were isolated;then,we investigated the chromatin decondensation and nuclear membrane disintegration of the hepatocytes using fluorescence imaging methods.Results:In 60 seconds,protease decondensed the chromatin and disintegrated the nuclear membrane structure of controls.After the first fasting,the time increased to 145 seconds in 3-month-old rats.The first refeeding increased the time to 156 seconds with a further rise to 340 seconds following the second fasting,then dropped to 116 seconds by the second refeeding.20 months old rats showed 186 seconds increase in the time of chromatin decondensation and nuclear membrane disintegration after the first fasting,with a decrease to 140 seconds observed after first refeeding.The second fasting increased the time to 165 seconds,which then slightly decreased to 163 seconds after the second refeeding.Conclusion:These results show that intermittent fasting may have acted on chromatin histone interactions and the structural lamin networks of the nuclear membranes in bringing about nuclear stability,which is essential for normal cellular function.

文摘WORLD HERITAGE AND SPACE TECHNOLOGY The Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage(WHC),adopted by United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO)on November 16,1972,aims to ensure the identification,protection,conservation,presentation,and transmission to future generations of the world’s cultural and natural heritage.The WHC works toward these goals by emphasizing the Outstanding Universal Value(OUV)of heritage sites and the unique contribution such places can make to conservation and human development agendas.1 As of the end of January 2023,theWHC has been signed by 194 state parties,covering 1,157 sites(including 900 cultural,218 natural,and 39 mixed properties),55 of which are considered to be in danger.These sites,totaling an area of more than 370 million hectares are designated as World Heritage(WH)sites(https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/).WH sites have played a significant role in the sustainable development of society globally and helped effectively maintain and preserve the cultural diversity and global biodiversity of the Earth.

文摘Professional dance is characterized by high impulsiveness,elegance,and aesthetic beauty.In order to reach the desired professionalism,it requires years of long and exhausting practice,good physical condition,musicality,but also,a good understanding of choreography.Capturing dance motions and transferring them to digital avatars is commonly used in the film and entertainment industries.However,so far,access to high-quality dance data is very limited,mainly due to the many practical difficulties in capturing the movements of dancers,making it prohibitive for largescale data acquisition.In this paper,we present a model that enhances the professionalism of amateur dance movements,allowing movement quality to be improved in both spatial and temporal domains.Our model consists of a dance-to-music alignment stage responsible for learning the optimal temporal alignment path between dance and music,and a dance-enhancement stage that injects features of professionalism in both spatial and temporal domains.To learn a homogeneous distribution and credible mapping between the heterogeneous professional and amateur datasets,we generate amateur data from professional dances taken from the AIST++dataset.We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method by comparing it with two baseline motion transfer methods via thorough qualitative visual controls,quantitative metrics,and a perceptual study.We also provide temporal and spatial module analysis to examine the mechanisms and necessity of key components of our framework.
文摘BACKGROUND Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors(SGLT2i)significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular(CV)and renal adverse events in patients with diabetes mellitus,heart failure(HF)and/or chronic kidney disease.We performed a meta-analysis to explore the impact of several different SGLT2i on all-cause mortality,CV mortality,HF hospitalizations and the combined outcome CV death/HF hospitalization in HF patients across the spectrum of left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)phenotypes.METHODS A systematic search in MEDLINE database and Cochrane library through March 2021 was performed without limitations.Randomized clinical trials that provided data about the impact of SGLT2i on all-cause mortality,CV mortality,HF hospitalizations or the combined outcome of CV death/HF hospitalization in HF patients were included.A random effects model was used for calculating the effect estimates.RESULTS Nine studies(n=16,723 patients,mean age:65.9 years,males:70.7%)were included in the quantitative synthesis.Compared to placebo,SGLT2i use was associated with 14%lower risk of all-cause mortality[hazard ratio(HR)=0.86,95%CI:0.78−0.94,I^(2)=0,P=0.0008],32%lower risk of HF hospitalizations(HR=0.68,95%CI:0.62−0.74,I^(2)=0,P<0.001),14%lower risk of CV mortality(HR=0.86,95%CI:0.77−0.95,I^(2)=0,P=0.003)and 26%lower risk of CV death/HF hospitalization(HR=0.74,95%CI:0.68−0.80,I^(2)=0,P<0.001).Regarding the safety outcomes,our data revealed no significant differences between SGLT2i and placebo groups in drug related discontinuations,amputations,severe hypoglycemia,hypotension,volume depletion,ketoacidosis and genital infections.By contrast,a protective role of SGLT2i against placebo was found for serious adverse events and acute kidney injury.CONCLUSIONS In patients with HF,regardless of LVEF phenotype,all SGLT2i had an excellent safety profile and significantly reduced the risk of all-cause mortality,CV mortality,HF hospitalizations and CV deaths/HF hospitalizations compared to placebo.
文摘BACKGROUND Violence against healthcare workers(HCWs)in the Caribbean continues to prevail yet remains underreported.Our aim is to determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the Caribbean.AIM To determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the Caribbean.METHODS This research adopted an online cross-sectional survey approach,spanning over eight weeks(between June 6th and August 9th,2022).The survey was generated using Research Electronic Data Capture forms and followed a snowballing strategy to contact individuals using emails,social media,text messages,etc.Logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the variables that influence violence,including gender,age,years of experience,institution type,and night shift frequency.RESULTS The survey was completed by 225 HCWs.Females comprised 61%.Over 51%of respondents belonged to the 21 to 35 age group.Dominica(n=61),Haiti(n=50),and Grenada(n=31)had the most responses.Most HCWs(49%)worked for government academic institutions,followed by community hospitals(23%).Medical students(32%),followed by attending physicians(22%),and others(16%)comprised the most common cadre of respondents.About 39%of the participants reported experiencing violence themselves,and 18%reported violence against colleague(s).Verbal violence(48%),emotional abuse(24%),and physical misconduct(14%)were the most common types of violence.Nearly 63%of respondents identified patients or their relatives as the most frequent aggressors.Univariate logistic regression analyses demonstrated that female gender(OR=2.08;95%CI:1.16-3.76,P=0.014)and higher frequency of night shifts(OR=2.22;95%CI:1.08-4.58,P=0.030)were associated with significantly higher odds of experiencing violence.More than 50%of HCWs felt less motivated and had decreased job satisfaction post-violent conduct.CONCLUSION A large proportion of HCWS in the Caribbean are exposed to violence,yet the phenomenon remains underreported.As a result,HCWs’job satisfaction has diminished.

文摘Tropospheric ozone(O_(3))concentration is increasing in China along with dramatic changes in precursor emissions and meteorological conditions,adversely affecting human health and ecosystems.O_(3) is formed from the complex nonlinear photochemical reactions from nitrogen oxides(NOx=NO+NO_(2))and volatile organic compounds(VOCs).Although the mechanism of O_(3) formation is rather clear,describing and analyzing its changes and formation potential at fine spatial and temporal resolution is still a challenge today.In this study,we briefly summarized and evaluated different approaches that indicate O_(3) formation regimes.We identify that atmospheric oxidation capacity(AOC)is a better indicator of photochemical reactions leading to the formation of O_(3) and other secondary pollutants.Results show that AOC has a prominent positive relationship to O_(3) in the major city clusters in China,with a goodness of fit(R^(2))up to 0.6.This outcome provides a novel perspective in characterizing O_(3) formation and has significant implications for formulating control strategies of secondary pollutants.
文摘While antibiotic resistance is becoming increasingly serious today,there is almost no doubt that more challenging times await us in the future.Resistant microorganisms have increased in the past decades leading to limited treatment options,along with higher morbidity and mortality.Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the significant microorganisms causing major public health problems by acquiring resistance to antibiotics and acting as an opportunistic pathogen of healthcare-associated infections.The production of extended spectrumbeta-lactamases(ESBL)is one of the resistance mechanisms of K.pneumoniae against antibiotics.In this study,the future clinical situation of ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae was investigated in order to reflect the future scenarios to understand the severity of the issue and to determine critical points to prevent the spread of the ESBL-producing strain.For evaluation purposes,SIS-type mathematical modeling was used with retrospective medical data from the period from 2016 to 2019.Stability of the disease-free equilibrium and basic reproduction ratios were calculated.Numerical simulation of the SISmodel was conducted to describe the dynamics of non-ESBL and ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae.In order to determine the most impactful parameter on the basic reproduction ratio,sensitivity analysis was performed.A study on mathematical modeling using data on ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae strains has not previously been performed in any health institution in Northern Cyprus,and the efficiency of the parameters determining the spread of the relevant strains has not been investigated.Through this study,the spread of ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae in a hospital environment was evaluated using a different approach.According to the study,in approximately seventy months,ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae strains will exceed non-ESBL K.pneumoniae strains.As a result,the analyses showed that hospital admissions and people infected with non-ESBL or ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae have the highest rate of spreading the infections.In ad
