Dear Editor,The occurrence of concentrated pneumonia cases in Wuhan city,Hubei province of China was first reported on December 30,2019 by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission(WHO,2020).The pneumonia cases were found to be linked to a large seafood and animal market in Wuhan,and measures for sanitation and disinfection were taken swiftly by the local government agency.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)and Chinese health authorities later determined and announced that a novel coronavirus(CoV),denoted as 2019-nCoV,had caused the pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan city(CDC,2020).Scientists from multiple groups had obtained the virus samples from hospitalized patients(Normile,2020).The isolated viruses were morphologically identical when observed under electron microscopy. 展开更多

It has been known that,the novel coronavirus,2019-nCoV,which is considered similar to SARS-CoV,invades human cells via the receptor angiotensin converting enzyme II(ACE2).Moreover,lung cells that have ACE2 expression may be the main target cells during 2019-nCoV infection.However,some patients also exhibit non-respiratory symptoms,such as kidney failure,implying that 2019-nCoV could also invade other organs.To construct a risk map of different human organs,we analyzed the single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)datasets derived from major human physiological systems,including the respiratory,cardiovascular,digestive,and urinary systems.Through scRNA-seq data analyses,we identified the organs at risk,such as lung,heart,esophagus,kidney,bladder,and ileum,and located specific cell types(i.e.,type II alveolar cells(AT2),myocardial cells,proximal tubule cells of the kidney,ileum and esophagus epithelial cells,and bladder urothelial cells),which are vulnerable to 2019-nCoV infection.Based on the findings,we constructed a risk map indicating the vulnerability of different organs to 2019-nCoV infection.This study may provide potential clues for further investigation of the pathogenesis and route of 2019-nCoV infection. 展开更多

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common degenerative joint disease and a major cause of pain and disability in adult individuals. The etiology of OA includes joint injury, obesity, aging, and heredity. However, the detailed molecular mechanisms of OA initiation and progression remain poorly understood and, currently, there are no interventions available to restore degraded cartilage or decelerate disease progression. The diathrodial joint is a complicated organ and its function is to bear weight, perform physical activity and exhibit a joint-specific range of motion during movement. During OA development, the entire joint organ is affected, including articular cartilage, subchondral bone, synovial tissue and meniscus. A full understanding of the pathological mechanism of OA development relies on the discovery of the interplaying mechanisms among different OA symptoms, including articular cartilage degradation, osteophyte formation, subchondral sclerosis and synovial hyperplasia, and the signaling pathway(s) controlling these pathological processes. 展开更多

Background:Human infections with zoonotic coronaviruses(CoVs),including severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome(MERS)-CoV,have raised great public health concern globally.Here,we report a novel batorigin CoV causing severe and fatal pneumonia in humans.Methods:We collected clinical data and bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL)specimens from five patients with severe pneumonia from Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital,Hubei province,China.Nucleic acids of the BAL were extracted and subjected to next-generation sequencing.Virus isolation was carried out,and maximum-likelihood phylogenetic trees were constructed.Results:Five patients hospitalized from December 18 to December 29,2019 presented with fever,cough,and dyspnea accompanied by complications of acute respiratory distress syndrome.Chest radiography revealed diffuse opacities and consolidation.One of these patients died.Sequence results revealed the presence of a previously unknownβ-CoV strain in all five patients,with 99.8%to 99.9%nucleotide identities among the isolates.These isolates showed 79.0%nucleotide identity with the sequence of SARS-CoV(GenBank NC_004718)and 51.8%identity with the sequence of MERS-CoV(GenBank NC_019843).The virus is phylogenetically closest to a bat SARS-like CoV(SL-ZC45,GenBank MG772933)with 87.6%to 87.7%nucleotide identity,but is in a separate clade.Moreover,these viruses have a single intact open reading frame gene 8,as a further indicator of bat-origin CoVs.However,the amino acid sequence of the tentative receptor-binding domain resembles that of SARS-CoV,indicating that these viruses might use the same receptor.Conclusion:A novel bat-borne CoV was identified that is associated with severe and fatal respiratory disease in humans. 展开更多

This paper summarizes the melting and casting processes for magnesium alloys.It also reviews the historical development of magnesium castings and their structural uses in the western world since 1921 when Dow began producing magnesium pistons.Magnesium casting technology was well developed during and after World War II,both in gravity sand and permanent mold casting as well as high-pressure die casting,for aerospace,defense and automotive applications.In the last 20 years,most of the development has been focused on thin-wall die casting applications in the automotive industry,taking advantages of the excellent castability of modern magnesium alloys.Recently,the continued expansion of magnesium casting applications into automotive,defense,aerospace,electronics and power tools has led to the diversification of casting processes into vacuum die casting,low-pressure die casting,squeeze casting,lost foam casting,ablation casting as well as semi-solid casting.This paper will also review the historical,current and potential structural use of magnesium with a focus on automotive applications.The technical challenges of magnesium structural applications are also discussed.Increasing worldwide energy demand,environment protection and government regulations will stimulate more applications of lightweight magnesium castings in the next few decades.The development of use of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering(ICME)tools will accelerate the applications of magnesium castings in structural applications. 展开更多

已有研究表明:云的垂直结构(简称CVS)是一个在卫星资料反演和气候模式预测中很重要的云特征。本文通过利用美国2006年刚发射的卫星CALIPSO(Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Obser-vations)所负载的激光雷达Level... 已有研究表明:云的垂直结构(简称CVS)是一个在卫星资料反演和气候模式预测中很重要的云特征。本文通过利用美国2006年刚发射的卫星CALIPSO(Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Obser-vations)所负载的激光雷达Level2_05km的云数据,研究了东亚地区(18°N^53°N,74°E^144°E)云的垂直分布特征。结果表明:东亚地区多层云云量在夏季、秋季、冬季、春季分别为43.6%、29.6%、21.1%、33.3%,而多层云分布中双层云比例最大。云顶和云底高度除了随季节变化显著外,还有明显的区域特征。单层云、双层云以及三层云的云顶和云底高度的数据显示,三层云中最上层的云顶和云底最高,并始终高于两层云中最上层云的云顶和云底高度。平均云层厚度季节变化不明显,其值普遍在0.9~2km范围之间。而云层间距同样没有明显的季节和区域变化,其出现的概率随距离的增大而减小。其中,间距在0.35km的概率最大,占到将近50%。而间距在1.45km附近的概率大约为15%,高一点的可达到20%。 展开更多

The core idea of this approach is to set up a deep neural network (DNN) to learn the Q-function of reinforcement learning from the sampled traffic state/control inputs and the corresponding traffic system performance output. Based on the obtained DNN, we can find the appropriate signal timing policies by implicitly modeling the control actions and the change of system states. We explain the possible benefits and implementation tricks of this new approach. A novel exponential demand function is adopted, and the penalty cost is introduced explicitly to capture the deviation production cost caused by the market demand disruption. The optimal strategies are obtained for different disruption scale under the centralized mode. For the decentralized mode, it is proved that the supply chain can be fully coordinated by adjusting the price discount policy appropriately when disruption occurs. Furthermore, the authors point out that similar results can be established for more general demand functions that represent different market circumstances if certain assumptions are satisfied. 展开更多

Considerable research is now focusing on abrupt Holocene changes at millennial- and centennial-scales all over the world. This study shows that the changes in theHolocene summer monsoon can be divided into two main periods, based on climatic proxy records of lake sediments from the Sanjiaocheng section located at the NW boundary of the summer monsoon, Gansu Province. The early and middle Holocene was humid with stronger summer monsoon, while the late Holocene is dry with weak summer monsoon. Detailed results also show a series of millennial- and centennial-scale changes in the intensity of the summer monsoon, with a periodicity of 1600 years during the whole Holocene, and with a periodicity of 800 years during the early Holocene. Ten dry events during the Holocene are associated with the weakening of the summer monsoon. These rapid climatic changes may be representative of a global climatic change pattern during the Holocene. 展开更多

Therefore, it is necessary to introduce human cognitive capabilities or human-like cognitive models into AI systems to develop a new form of AI, that is, hybrid-augmented intelligence. This form of AI or machine intelligence is a feasible and important developing model. Hybrid-augmented intelligence can be divided into two basic models: one is human-in-the-loop augmented intelligence with human-computer collaboration, and the other is cognitive computing based augmented intelligence, in which a cognitive model is embedded in the machine learning system. This survey describes a basic framework for human-computer collaborative hybrid-augmented intelligence, and the basic elements of hybrid-augmented intelligence based on cognitive computing. These elements include intuitive reasoning, causal models, evolution of memory and knowledge, especially the role and basic principles of intuitive reasoning for complex problem solving, and the cognitive learning framework for visual scene understanding based on memory and reasoning. Currently there is no effective antiviral therapy for SARS-CoV-2 infection, which frequently leads to fatal inflammatory responses and acute lung injury. Here, we discuss the various mechanisms of SARS-CoV-mediated inflammation. We also assume that SARS-CoV-2 likely shares similar inflammatory responses. Potential therapeutic tools to reduce SARS-CoV-2-induced inflammatory responses include various methods to block FcR activation. In the absence of a proven clinical FcR blocker, the use of intravenous immunoglobulin to block FcR activation may be a viable option for the urgent treatment of pulmonary inflammation to prevent severe lung injury. Such treatment may also be combined with systemic anti-inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids. However, these strategies, as proposed here, remain to be clinically tested for effectiveness. 展开更多
